I am super excited to perform at the Daly City Farmers’ Market this Saturday, September 13th! The market is hosting their annual Kid’s Day at the Market. In addition to farm fresh produce, there will be many fun activities for the kids – puppet shows, crafts, face painting and kid’s music (that’s me!)
Hope to see you at Kid’s Day at the Daly City Farmers’ Market.

The release date for my album is quickly approaching – just two weeks away! On August 5, 2014 I will finally be able to share Obstacle Course with the world! I’m excited but also feel myself holding back a bit. I guess I won’t be able to truly celebrate until the release date is here.
Obstacle Course was a true labor of love. Every song on the album was written for my son and inspired by my experiences as a first time parent. Most of the songs were written while my son napped (sleep when the baby sleeps? Ha!) or in the wee hours of the night after he’d gone to bed. Between colds, fevers, potty training, searching for preschools, and my full time job; I seriously have no idea how I found time to record. But I did it! There were many bumps along the way; bumps which actually caused me to question my choice to name the album Obstacle Course. I kept running into, well… obstacles. Was this life imitating art? I don’t know for sure but I do know that my next album will be titled Easy Street or Smooth Sailing or something of that nature.
I did get past all the obstacles and the album is complete! I have held it in my hands and it is beautiful! It will be released on August 5, 2014 via most major digital music sellers (iTunes, Cd Baby, Amazon, etc.) Physical copies can be purchased online via Cd Baby and Bandcamp, or directly from me at my CD Release party!
So let’s talk about the party! August 10, 2014 I am celebrating the release of Obstacle Course at my favorite children’s store Glammic! Glammic is a colorful and unique children’s store located at 1488 Vallejo Street in San Francisco. Glammic’s main product is their trademarked ShirtCape; a colorful shirt with a built in cape. Glammic customizes the shirts right in their SF store where they also make all kinds of wonderful and imaginative clothing like tutus, funky hats, and the most gorgeous Halloween costumes I’ve ever seen. I buy all my gifts for new babies and toddler birthdays at Glammic. Glammic also carries a great selection of children’s toys and stuffed animals and now Glammic also carries children’s music! My music!
I’m so excited for my CD release party at Glammic. The party is from 12 noon – 4:00 pm and I will be playing music all day long. I will play the songs from Obstacle Course twice; once at 12 noon and an encore performance at 3:00 pm. In between the album sets I will play family friendly rock ‘n’ roll covers and also some classic children’s songs. We will be serving refreshments and tasty treats from Fresh Baby Bites. If you are in the area make sure to stop by this fun, family friendly event!
Weeee! I am bursting with excitement because my album, Obstacle Course, will be released on August 5, 2014.
Obstacle Course is available to pre-order now via bandcamp and will be available August 5th on CD Baby, iTunes and Amazon.
Please check back soon for details regarding my San Francisco CD release party on August 10th and for the premiere of my very first music video – an animated video for “Rock ‘n’ Roll ABCs”.

I had so much fun playing at a CFMA Farmers’ Market last week that I am doing it again this weekend! This time I am bringing my original children’s music and family friendly covers to the Fort Mason Farmers’ Market.
Come on down to Fort Mason this Sunday and support our local farmers . I will entertain you and your little ones while you shop!
On Sunday, May 18th I will be playing at the Blossom Hill (San Jose) Farmers’ Market. Woo hoo! Come on by and shop for fresh fruits and veggies while I entertain you! Bring the little ones because I’ll be playing my family friendly tunes.
This is a fun and playful song all about me and my nana! This song started as a little ditty I used to sing to Owen on Saturday mornings…
Owen and mama two days together
Owen and mama two days together
or if it was a three day weekend I’d sing
Owen and mama three days together
Owen and mama three days together
or if I had a week off of work I’d…well, you get the picture.
He was just a baby at this time and I can still see his little smile whenever I sang him this little tune.
When I was writing songs for Obstacle Course, I decided to turn this little ditty into a song. I added verses and changed the chorus from “Owen and mama” to “me and my nana”. I thought nana had a nice ring to it and depersonalizing it would hopefully welcome others to join in on the fun. But guess what? I don’t call my grandma Nana, I call my grandma Oma. What do you call your grandma?
Give it a listen. I hope you’ll sing along!
“Nana” is a track on my upcoming album, Obstacle Course. Please check back soon for album updates or sign up for email updates by clicking the “Follow This Blog” button in the right sidebar.
I love when a song catches Owen’s attention. He’ll stop whatever he’s doing, tilt his head to the side and ask “What’s that song?” and then declare happily, “I like it!”
Here are four songs that recently received my opinionated three-year-old’s nod of approval and, thankfully, are all fun songs the entire family will enjoy!
We heard this song on a Sunday drive out to Oma and Opa’s house. Moments after it started Owen declared “I like this song.” Although I much prefer the German version this tickled me to my 80’s core.
99 Red Balloons – Nena
This song comes on at the end of the movie “Marmaduke”. Owen and I have watched “Marmaduke” three times, yes three times. Every time this song started Owen popped up from behind the couch (he’d lost interest in the movie by this point – sadly I was still glued to the TV) and asked, “What’s that song?” Another 80’s gem.
What I Like About You – The Romantics
This is a sweet and beautiful song from a new family album by Walter Martin (available May 13th – can’t wait!). Owen heard it for the first time one Saturday morning on Spare the Rock Spoil the Child (we listen most Saturdays via PRX.org). As soon as it came on he stopped, listened and asked “What’s that song?” then declared that he liked it! I like it too, I like it a lot.
Sing to Me – Walter Martin featuring Karen O
We heard this next one also while listening to Spare the Rock Spoil the Child. It was Owen’s top pick from the 3/22 show. This made me very happy because it totally ROCKS! We listened to it five times and danced all over the living room. I’m definitely going to check out ScribbleMonster and see what else they’ve got going on.
